How To Deal With Change
In a world where it is believed there is no "right or wrong", think about it, it can be psychologically satisfying to know you are moving in the correct direction. That "knowing" you are moving in the right direction is not always related to how you "feel", neither is it necessarily dependant on what you might "think".
Sometimes "thinking" gets in the way. You know, our "busy-ness" of thought. Even sometimes we must ignore what we feel, not because God doesn't care about our feelings, but because feelings at times cloud our judgment. In many decisions of life this can be dangerous.
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation, but the rich in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away." (James 1:5-10)
This article reminds me of something. I got my first taste of "politically correct" when watching The Simpson's several years ago. I noticed the jokes weren't as funny and then I thought about it. How can it be funny without "offending" anyone? Everyone has heard jokes about race, religion, etc. and although in bad taste, they tend to bring a smile or laugh because of their unscientific validity and even wisdom of seeing humor for what it is, a good laugh. When I tell a joke to a friend, I'm careful but knowing that friend I also have a pretty good idea what would hurt their feelings. At work or in a more professional environment, jokes are really best not said but this is practical because of harassment laws at the workplace. I guess I just have to say here that I don't want to change my language or behavior by force or threat. This is the world we live in and therefore I have to be careful who my friends are. As far as not having a right or wrong, this is more than political corectness or even of legal significance and I am not willing to be brainwashed any time soon!!! I believe in the Bible, God, and family and if anyone tells me it's right or wrong, that's their opinion, thank God, but if I am ignored or treated with indifference, I am destroyed and this is truly a change I am not willing to bend for. -Sheila
